BTS Jangwon → EXO's Sehun enlists, completes "goodbye for a while"

All members of BTS have enlisted in the military, and the youngest member of EXO, Sehun, will also be enlisting. The group's full return is expected after 2025.

On Nov. 11, BTS members RM and V entered the Nonsan Training Center in Nonsan, Chungcheongnam-do, to begin active duty in the army. On the 12th, Jimin and Jungkook joined the Army's 5th Division Recruit Training Center in Yeoncheon County, Gyeonggi Province.

This means that all seven members of BTS have fulfilled their military obligations, as Jin joined the army in December last year, J-Hope in April this year, and Sugar began his alternative service as a social service worker in September.

The members of BTS have all been performing solo activities since Jin's enlistment, and as the members quickly enlisted and discharged within a year, they have expressed their desire to minimize the gap between their military enlistments and meet with their fans. In particular, members such as Jimin, V, and Jungkook, who enlisted at a rather early age for celebrities, are said to have been highly motivated to make a full comeback.

All members of BTS will be discharged in June 2025. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the "Hwayangyeonhwa" series of albums, which have been meaningful to them, and the members have announced that they will celebrate the 10th anniversary of "Hwayangyeonhwa" after they leave the military, along with the news of their re-signing with Big Hit Music. They are expected to resume their activities immediately after their discharge, adding to the anticipation of their fans.

On the 13th, EXO's Sehun announced his enlistment. He will begin his alternative service as a social worker on May 21.

In a handwritten letter to his fan community, Sehun said, "I'm sorry to tell ExoL (his fandom name) that I'm taking so long to tell you the news." Sehun explained that he recently spent some time alone and examined himself, saying, "So I can't show my face to you, so I'm greeting you like this. I hope you can understand that I'm traveling without being able to greet you in person."

Sehun will be the last EXO member to fulfill his military service. Aside from Kai and Sehun, all members of EXO have already served in the military. Kai, who enlisted in May, has completed basic military training and is currently serving as a social service worker. Both are scheduled to be discharged from the military in 2025, so we won't see EXO in its entirety until 2025 or later.
