Player 2: The War of the Soldiers

What is it about Song Seung-heon, the president's chosen man?

In tvN's Monday-Tuesday drama 'Player 2: The War of the Goons,' we take a deep dive into the lethal abilities of Kang Ha-ri (Song Seung-heon), a genius con artist who is commissioned by President Choi Sang-ho (Cho Sung-ha).

In the drama, Kang Ha-ri works with the best experts in their respective fields, including hacker Lim Byung-min (Lee Si Eon), fighter Do Jin-woong (Tae Won-seok), and driver Cha Jay (Jang Kyuri), to realize his big picture. It's a team of key players, not megastars, who have the dangerous job of killing villains, but who can infiltrate lightly and move quickly anywhere, anytime.

But they're also using their brains and innate senses to devise tactics to take down the bad guys once and for all. When dealing with Kang Kang-young (Tae In-ho), the mastermind of a highly suspicious NFT scam, she deliberately pushes his suspicion buttons to make him lose sight of what's really important. Against Kim Yoon-ki (Park Gun-hyung), the CEO of KU Enter, who uses other people's weaknesses to get what he wants, he first gained the psychological advantage by using his weaknesses and then used them to his advantage.

After the movie

Along the way, Kang Ha-ri's colorful list of sidekicks is also eye-catching, as it shows how she can manipulate even the most fearsome villains. Kang Ha-ri's brazenness and quick wit add to the fun, as she transforms into high school junior Lee Shin-woo for Kang Kang-young and drug dealer Eddie Chung for Kim Yoon-ki, showing a different face for every situation depending on her purpose.

As analytical and strategic as this character is, his real strength lies in his warm heart. His playful, jovial, and gentle charisma not only brings the players together, but also fills the team's teamplay with a family-like bond of affection. His love for his teammates is especially evident when he gathers them back together to avenge the death of his former teammate Cha Ah-ryung (Jung Soo-jeong).

Ha-ri is also driven by a sense of justice, returning the favor to those who do evil to him. Though he is acting on a commission, he risks more than the reward, and it is his sincerity in punishing the wrongdoers and touching the hearts of the victims that makes his game shine.

Song Seung-heon's irresistible magic, which delivers a refreshing taste of Kwon Seon-jigak with a cold head and a hot heart, can be seen in episode 5 of "Player 2: War of the Soldiers," which airs on July 17 at 8:50 p.m.
