'Hive Beauty Girl Group' Cat's Eye Surprisingly Reveals Some of Their Debut Songs at 'Wiconfé'

KATSEYE

Hive and Geffen Records' global girl group KATSEYE is making waves with the surprise release of their debut song and performance snippets.

KATSEYE (Daniela, Lara, Manon, Megan, Sophia, and Yoonchae) made a video greeting on the outdoor stage of the '2024 Wevese Con Festival' held at the Inspire Entertainment Resort in Yeongjongdo, Incheon, on the 15th.

In the video, KATSEYE said, "Our first single 'Debut' will be released on the 28th. We've been working really hard on it and we're very excited to show it to our global music fans. We're spending every day with excitement."

The members then gave a sneak peek at their performance of 'Debut'. It was a short 10-second segment, but the catchy melody and addictive choreography were enough to capture the attention of the fans in attendance.

"I'm greeting you in a video this time, but the day will come when I will meet you in person," KATSEYE said, "I'm waiting for that day," raising the anticipation of fans.

KATSEYE

Earlier, Hive and Geffen Records officially announced that KATSEYE will debut on June 28 at 0 p.m. ET (1 p.m. PT). The label also revealed that their second single and EP will be released in July and August, respectively.

KATSEYE was formed through the audition program "The Debut: Dream Academy," which aired from September to November last year. Out of 120,000 applicants, the six members were selected through a mission that evaluated their dance, vocals, teamwork, concept digestion, and artistry.

They are also the first girl group from Hive and Geffen Records to debut in the mainstream pop market of the United States. As a glimpse of the globalization potential of the K-pop system, global music fans and the industry are taking notice.

This summer, the birth of KATSEYE will be documented in the Netflix documentary series Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE. It follows the creation of the one-of-a-kind girl group and their journey to global stardom, including their unique training and development program at Hive and Geffen Records. It is directed by Nadia Hallgren, a four-time Emmy nominee for her Netflix documentary Becoming.
