Julian, "Disposable LED Invitations → Overuse of Water" WaterBomb

Belgian broadcaster Julian has spoken out about the summer water music festival Waterbomb.

Julien shared a photo of the invitation to Waterbomb 2024 on his social media on July 27th.

Julien posted the disposable LED invitation and added a surprised emoji, saying, "Disposable LEDs on the invitation?"

The invitation box is opened to reveal a video of the Waterbomb festival on an LED screen. The invitation is in a paper box, which is difficult to recycle, and the LEDs are disposable, leading some commentators to criticize the invitation as "wasteful in many ways, including water and non-recyclable invitations."

Julian also wrote, "For the record, this is not an invitation I received, and I'm not going this year. I have a real problem with overuse of water," he said.

WATERBOMB is Korea's largest audience-participation festival where audiences and artists can enjoy music by teaming up for water fights.

It is a representative festival of the MZ generation, but it has long been criticized as a waste of water, as hundreds of tons of water are used.

Previously, actor Lee El also pointed out the water waste of Waterbomb, saying on Twitter in June 2022, "I wish the water from the Waterbomb concert could be sprinkled on the 300-ton Soyang River."

Meanwhile, WaterBam is scheduled to hold concerts in Jeju, Daegu, Busan, Incheon, Daejeon, etc. starting from July 5-7 in Seoul.
