Chew "'Keep It Up Chew, Keep It Up', Take the Energy from the King"

"Protect Chu Chu Chu"

Chu, a former Girl of the Month singer, is back with a desire to give back to all those who have supported her.

Chu's new song "Strawberry Rush" is a journey of reclaiming the dreams and imaginations of childhood that have been forgotten. "Everyone dreams big when they're young, and when we face the dreams we've forgotten amidst the complexities of everyday life, this album is about moving forward once again with the determination to find them again," Chew explains."

The title track, "Strawberry Rush," is a track that depicts Chew's day as a spunky hero girl on a quest to win a trophy, with a soundtrack that sounds like she's running on rails. "I don't think I've ever been as fresh and energetic as I am on this album, from the group to my first solo album, and I really wanted to do something like this this year, something that's empowering, supportive, and uplifting," Chew said.

"I want to give back the comfort I've been given, and words have always been inadequate. I felt like I wanted to give back the comfort that I heard while I was recording and monitoring this song because it wasn't enough for me, so I tried to capture my own empowering energy."

Chu wanted to showcase a warm, yet spunky tomboyish energy. "The song has a message of 'I'll protect you,' but it also has a sassy, cute, 'I'm an unstoppable tomboy' vibe," he said. I think the unique and imaginative lyrics made me like it even more as I listened to the recording."

The new song includes lyrics such as "Protect Choo Choo Choo" and "Beep beep beep". "The first time I listened to it, I was lying down and woke up when I heard the lyrics, and I was grateful that they wrote 'Keep watch over me'. "I was like, 'What if it sounds awkward when I record it?' But it came out cute and quirky, so I'm having fun listening to it," he says. "It might be esoteric lyrics to some people, but I tried to make it flow. I tried to pay attention to the details so that you're like, 'Oh, that's what the lyrics are about? That's so charming,' and you want to listen to it again.<"When I listen to a song, if there's one lyric that really sticks with me, I'll listen to it over and over and over again, and it becomes addictive, so I wanted to make it esoteric and addictive, so that it's not so hard to get into because it's 'King Chew's energy,' 'King Chew's lyrics,' and it's so quirky and witty."

"I think it's about the 582nd time I've heard it," laughs Chew, who is already addicted to Strawberry Rush. "I've even gotten water in the speaker by pressing it again in the shower with water on it because I couldn't get it to repeat because I didn't have the record yet. I listen to it when I work out, when I'm walking around, I listen to it in the shop. It's actually a great song to listen to anytime. Every time I listen to it, there's a new and different point in the lyrics that hits home and lifts my spirits. I'm confident that I'll never get tired of it."

"I don't have a numerical goal, but a small goal is to hear people say, 'Chew fits the summer concept,' 'I believe in it,' or 'I've grown again. I want to hear that I did a good job with the concept that goes well with Chew."

Chew, who was recently loved for his 'Chew Challenge', showed off his 'maternal' cuteness during the interview with his rich facial expressions and high-pitched voice.

Chew said about 'Source of Brightness', "The earth regenerates itself, and I think I'm a fast regenerator. I seem to forget things faster than other people, and I think everyone has wounds, but I seem to recover quickly from them, and I think I recover quickly because of the energy I get from my important friends, members, and family. I think it's because I receive bright energy from the people around me. The words that fans say to me and the emotions and energy that I receive every time I stand on stage give me the motivation to stand again."

"My family is all bright, and my youngest sister's tension is higher than mine. When I come home from work, they ask me, 'What did you do today?' 'Have you seen Jeon Hyunmoo?' Because of their cuteness, they're like, 'I was like this 10 years ago.' The whole family atmosphere is like, 'If you're having a hard time, just wrap it in lettuce and forget about it.' I think it's because they love singing and dancing."

Chew, who dreamed of becoming a singer since he was a child, realized his dream when he debuted as a singer in 2017. "My dream was to be a singer where everyone gets energy from me and gets good vibes from me, and I've achieved my dream of being a singer, but I think I'm still in the process of reaching my goal," he said. "If there are 50 steps to my goal, I think I've taken 10 steps with this album. It's a message to cheer someone up, but I felt cheered up, and I'm so grateful that this song came to me that I want to do it well."

"There are so many things I want to do, and there are many aspects of myself that I want to show through the album, and I have a big desire to do entertainment, broadcasting, content, and even acting. I want to feel proud to some extent as I step through those goals one by one."
