"I was thirsty"...STAYC, 'change' on debut full-length album

STAYC has changed. STAYC's unique kitschiness that captures the growth and changes over the four years of their debut

On the 1st, a showcase was held at Yes 24 Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul to commemorate the release of STAYC's (Sumin, Shiun, Aisa, Se-eun, Yoon, Jae-yi) debut full-length album 'Metamorphic'.

The new album is the group's first in Korea in about 11 months since their third mini album "TEENFRESH," released last August, and the culmination of about three years and eight months since their debut. The album's name reflects the evolution of their concept, visual transformation, and upgraded capabilities.

"I'm excited to make a comeback after a long time and feel good," said Si-Eun. Seyeon also said, "It's been 11 months since I came out. I'm so excited and nervous."

Sumin also hinted at the change in STAYC's appearance. She said, "I'm excited to release my first full-length album in four years. I've been preparing for this for a long time. It's a meaningful time to share it with everyone here today." "The album has 14 songs in total, and you can hear the changes in STAYC's music in line with the album name. There are fan songs written for the first time, solo songs by the members, and unit songs, so please give it a lot of love."

Also, he said, "When I first received the 14 songs, I was very worried about how I would be able to finish them all. But it was so much fun to work on each song. It was a good attempt to get different songs from different composers, and I enjoyed it." "Also, the songs are so good that I have a lot of confidence. It's a big dream, but I hope to be on an album someday," she said.

Si Eun said, "I think I had a great thirst for songs. When I heard that we were preparing a lot of songs, I was happy inwardly. We worked with various writers and composers so that we wouldn't come up with the same, predictable songs." "We also tried different vocal parts and other things. I'm not tired of playing it over and over again," he said with confidence.

The title track, 'Cheeky Icy Thang',
'Twenty,' '1 Thing,' 'Give It 2 Me,' 'Let Me Know,' 'Nada,' 'Beauty Bomb,' 'Gummy Bear,' 'Flexing On My Ex. Ex', 'Flexing On My Ex', 'Trouble Maker', 'Find', 'Fakin', 'Roses', 'Stay WITH me' and 14 other songs.

Referring to the title track, Aisa said, "It's about being ice-cool, hot, and quirky. I want to walk the runway anywhere," she said.

In the music video teaser, Se-eun chews gum and makes a quirky face. Se-eun said, "I don't often make an 'ang' face when filming a STAYC music video, so this is the first time I've ever made such a face. I think I looked clumsy the first time I did it, but the director thought it was cute, so I filmed it over 10 times," she said.

Yoon also has a new look. "Previous STAYC songs were melody-oriented," Yoon says. Now, we have a lot of repetitive parts and songs that press. It was interesting and fun, and I think that's why it was more fresh when we were preparing this album."

Following the unit song, Aisa's first solo song, STAYC also showed affection for her first fan song, "Stay With Me. Yoon said of the fan song, "I wrote it with the mindset of thinking only about my fans. It keeps getting emotional as I listen to it, and since it's my first fan song, I think it would be meaningful to sing it with all the members."

StayC was especially excited to release the album on the same day as Baby Monster and Kiss of Live. Si-Eun said, "I'm more excited than pressured about the overlap in comeback timing. I enjoy listening to Kiss of Life and Baby Monster's songs and watching their performances, so I'm looking forward to seeing them on stage.

She continued, "Until our previous album, we were labeled as a 'healing stone'. This time, it's different. There is nothing that Stacy can't handle. I think it's our unique strength to be able to digest anything," he said confidently.

STAYC dressed in a 'cheeky' outfit. Shi Eun said, "If we have shown a kitschy look through teen fresh, healing, and energy, this time we tried to show a quirky and more daring look." She added, "Since the album is called Transformation, we hope that the six of us who have grown up will catch the public's eyes. I think we were more thirsty for the stage with our fans than our performance. I want to be safe and happy."

Yoon added, "I was worried about how the public would accept it. At first, I wasn't sure, but now I'm confident and have prepared hard," she said.

Meanwhile, STAY's "Metamorphic" will be released today (Jan. 1) at 6 p.m. on various online music sites.
