Aileet Named Billboard's K-Pop Rookie of the Month "Setting an Unprecedented Record"

ILLIT

The group ILLIT has been named K-Pop Rookie of the Month by Billboard in the United States. The group was honored for the remarkable achievements and continued popularity of their debut title track "Magnetic.

The U.S. music publication Billboard highlighted ILLIT (YoonA, Minju, Mocha, Wonhee, and Iroha) as the June 2024 K-Pop Rookie of the Month in an article titled "Why 'Magnetic' Group ILLIT Is Billboard's First-Ever K-Pop Rookie of the Month" on its website on June 28 (local time).

Billboard recalled that Aileet's "Magnetic" became the first K-pop group's debut song to enter the Hot 100 (#91 on April 20), and that their mini album "Super Real Me" followed suit, entering the Billboard 200 (#93 on May 11).

Billboard also noted that "Magnetic" remains at the top of both the Global 200 and Global 200 (excluding the U.S.) on the most recent chart (dated June 29), "further strengthening Ailee's international appeal.

Billboard said, "Aileet has emerged as an extremely important group upon their debut," adding, "Setting an unprecedented record for a K-pop debut, they have captivated music fans around the world with their addictive music, soulful vocals, catchy choreography, and the members' charming personalities."

Billboard also highlighted the group's debut process and unlimited potential for growth, as well as the five members' goals, plans, and messages to fans.

Eilit told Billboard, "I was surprised that so many people loved 'Magnetic'. I haven't been to the U.S. yet, but I can't wait to meet my global fans. I'm so grateful for the love I've received since my debut song. I'm working hard to come back with better music and performances, so please look forward to it."

Meanwhile, EYELET debuted on March 25 with her mini album "SUPER REAL ME," a mini album that captures the realism and imagination of a teenager who believes that "my real story is the best story. The album's title track, "Magnetic," is a song that expresses the feelings of a teenage girl running full speed toward her crush.

Magnetic

"Magnetic" debuted at the top of major music charts in Korea before its success on Billboard in the U.S., and entered the UK Official Singles Top 100 at No. 80 on April 5. The song has since expanded its global popularity, breaking the record for the fastest 100 million streams for a girl group single on Japan's Oricon chart's Weekly Streaming Rankings.

Ailee will also be attending the 2024 TMEA 5th Tencent Music Entertainment Awards on March 19, where she will meet fans in Greater China for the first time since her debut.
