A new paradigm from BTS's J-Hope

BTS's J-Hope is bringing a new paradigm to K-pop with its 'HOPE ON THE STREET' project.

BTS's J-Hope will release the documentary series "HOPE ON THE STREET" on the 28th (KST) and release the album of the same name on the 29th. On the 30th, J-Hope will open a pop-up store to celebrate the album's release, all of which will be themed around J-Hope's artistic roots of street dance.

Documentaries that accompany albums often focus on the making of the record. However, J-Hope broke the formula and tried something different. From the content planning stage, he set "dance" as a common theme and organically connected the documentary and music. From conception to fruition, this project is considered to be a step forward for J-Hope as an artist.

The documentary follows J-HOP as he interacts with street dancers of various genres in Paris, Seoul, and New York. The album 'HOPE ON THE STREET VOL.1' celebrates his love for dance, which hasn't changed in the 12 years since his debut. The title track "NEURON (with Gaeko and Yoon Mirae)" is a representative track that conveys J-Hope's musical roots, life motivation, and expectations for a new start.

Dance is also an important element of the pop-up, which will be held from March 30 to April 5 in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul. The space will be decorated with a street feel, and there will be a dance workshop called "NEURON THE STREET" for visitors to participate in. Big Hit Music said, "You will be able to feel the identity of artist J-Hope at this pop-up. We hope that everyone who visits will get positive energy from the experience."

The 'HOPE ON THE STREET' project, which incorporates 'dance' into documentaries, music, and pop-ups, was made possible by J-HOPE's challenging spirit. Throughout his solo career, J-HOP has continued to evolve and challenge himself in new areas. His first solo album 'Jack In The Box' was released in 2022. At the time of its release, the album was considered groundbreaking as it was released solely as a Weavers album with no visuals. A Weavers album is an album that recognizes QR codes and uses an application to listen to music, images, and more.

With this album, J-Hope showed his ability as a visual designer, especially the album cover for Jack In The Box, which reflects his value for the "visual experience" of music. J-Hope collaborated with world-renowned artist and designer KAWS to create the album cover, and the collaboration recognized his skills as a visual creative director. On the eve of the album's release, he hosted an unusual "listening party" where he invited musicians, directors, and other colleagues to listen to the new album and talk freely.

J-Hope has also expanded his footprint in the field of performance. In 2022, he performed as the main stage headliner at Lollapalooza, a large-scale music festival held in Chicago, USA, where he performed 18 songs in about an hour. J-Hope marked a significant milestone by becoming the first Korean singer to headline the main stage.

J-Hope's documentary series "HOPE ON THE STREET" will be available on TVING and Prime Video on August 28 at 0:00 p.m. The album 'HOPE ON THE STREET VOL.1', which will be released on the 29th, will include a total of 6 songs, all of which were written by J-Hope.
