newjeans Named Group of the Year at Billboard's Women in Music Awards in the U.S.

Girl group NewJeans won the Group of the Year award at the 2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards.

On the 6th (local time), the '2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards' was held at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, and NewJeans (Minzy, Hani, Daniel, Harin, and Hyein) received the honor of winning the 'Group of the Year' award. They are the first K-pop artist to win Group of the Year at the awards show, and it's been nine years since Fifth Harmony won in 2015.

Presenting the award, American country singer Rainnie Wilson introduced Newzine as "leading a new wave of girl groups in K-pop, which has long been a male-dominated genre," and Newzine said, "It's unbelievable to be a part of an awards show filled with such amazing artists. Every artist in this room is an inspiration to us, and our love and passion for music has only grown because of you, so thank you."

"Looking back on the past two years, we have been incredibly blessed. We've experienced so many new and exciting things, and we've had our best year yet," said Newzine. "None of this would have been possible without the Bunnies, and all the people who have helped us along the way. We will do our best to keep moving forward. We look forward to sharing our love of music with you in the future."

At the same time, NUJINS heated up the scene by performing "Super Shy" and "ETA," the title track of their second EP "Get Up.

Meanwhile, the Billboard Women in Music Awards was launched in 2007 to recognize the top female artists, creators, producers, and executives who have made a significant impact on the music industry in the past year. In addition to Newzine, global pop stars such as Carol G, Charli XCX, Ice Cube, Maren Morris, Thames, Victoria Monet, and more were honored at this year's ceremony.
