NewJeans to ring in 2024 with US 'New Year's Rocking Eve' stage

NewJeans, the first K-pop girl group to perform on ABC's New Year's Eve special show in the United States, kicked off 2024 in style.

NewJeans appeared on ABC's "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2024," which aired live on December 31 at 8 p.m. (local time, January 1 at 10 a.m. KST), and performed two songs, "Super Shy" and "ETA," on the show.

New Year's Rockin' Eve is the most-watched New Year's Eve special in the United States, featuring the biggest pop stars of the year performing in New York City's Times Square and around the world. While this year's lineup of pop stars included Post Malone, Ivy Queen, Cardi B, Jelly Roll, Sabrina Carpenter, and more, Newzynx was the only K-pop artist on the New Year's Rockin' Eve lineup, demonstrating its "global phenomenon" status.

On the day, NUJINS drew attention with their unique styling, maximizing their teenage appeal with a preppy look in "Super Shy," and proving their conceptual prowess once again with their unconventional styling with point accessories in "ETA.

The stage, which was decorated with large binky bongs and colorful devices, was also enough to attract global fans. The upbeat rhythm of "Super Shy" was enlivened by the walking dance routine of NUJINS and their dancers, and the "ETA" stage was filled with cheers from the members and shouts from the audience. NUJINS' unconventional performance using a stand microphone, as well as their dynamic dancing and relaxed stage manners, stood out. At the end of their performance, the members shouted "Happy New Year" together, which was reminiscent of a festival.

On December 31, NUJINS also appeared on NHK's signature year-end music program, "Red and White House Happens. As a special guest singer, NUJINS garnered a lot of attention from local media in Japan before their appearance, and their special medley of "OMG," "ETA," and "Ditto" stole the show. Immediately after the performance, Newzine's songs rose in the rankings of major Japanese music charts, and Newzine became a hot topic on social media, trending in real time.
