YG says re-signing talks with BLACKPINK "still ongoing"

YG Entertainment's (YG) re-signing discussions with the members of BLACKPINK are not over yet.

In its quarterly report on Thursday, YG said, "As of the date of disclosure, the exclusive contract with the artist (BLACKPINK) is in the process of being negotiated for renewal." "The final result will be announced in the 'Key Management Matters Related to Investment Judgment' disclosure at a later date."

BLACKPINK is YG's "signature" girl group and is considered to be one of K-pop's leading girl groups. The group debuted in August 2016 and celebrated its seventh anniversary this year, but has yet to disclose whether it will renew its contract.

As a result, various 'theories' surrounding their re-signing are abundant. The industry is speculating that the members are considering whether to continue working separately or together. It is expected that BLACKPINK will continue to work with YG while pursuing individual activities under YG or other companies.
