Lesserafim 'Perfect Night' tops Mellon's monthly chart...still going strong

Last year, Melon's last monthly chart-topper was the group LE SSERAFIM.

LE SSERAFIM (Kim Chae Won, Sakura, Heo Yoon Jin, Kazuha, and Hong Eun Chae) topped Melon's December 2023 monthly chart with their first English-language digital single "Perfect Night". Only five other artists have topped Melon's monthly chart this year, including LeSeraphim.

"Perfect Night" is the first English-language song by a female K-pop artist to sweep Melon's real-time Top 100, daily and weekly charts, and then top the monthly chart. Even when expanding the scope to K-pop as a whole, only Le Seraphim and BTS have ever topped Mellon's monthly charts with an English-language song, demonstrating the power of their music.

"Perfect Night" briefly dropped in the rankings due to the strength of holiday carol music, but it regained the top spot on the Mellon Daily Chart on the 28th of last month, and has remained at the top of the latest daily (December 31, 2023) and weekly charts (compiled from December 25-31, 2023). The song also topped the latest weekly chart (December 22-28, 2023) on YouTube Music in Korea, making it the number one song on the country's major music charts.

In addition to this, LeSeraphim appeared on NHK's "74th Red and White House Combat," a program that boasts a unique presence in terms of viewership and topicality, on the 31st of last month. She was the only K-pop singer to be invited to perform on the show for two consecutive years, proving her strong popularity and influence in Japan.

The group performed the Japanese version of their first album title track "UNFORGIVEN (feat. Nile Rodgers)" and received a warm reception. In addition, the five members performed the theme song "Under The Sea" from the animated film "The Little Mermaid" at the "Hongbaek X Disney" special commemorating Disney's 100th anniversary, and together with other cast members, they performed a joint performance of the hit song "Idol" by local popular musician YOASOBI.
