[TVE Daily reporter Kim Ji-ha] The solo works of BTS and BLACKPINK have taken the global market by storm, driving the popularity of K-pop on the U.S. Billboard charts.

According to Billboard on Nov. 9 (local time), BTS's Jungkook's first solo album "GOLDEN," released last November, is ranked at No. 28 on the Billboard 200, the main album chart of Billboard on Nov. 13.

It has been on the chart for nine consecutive weeks, making Jungkook the longest-running K-pop solo artist to have an album on the Billboard 200.

The competition between BTS members is also noteworthy. Previously, the longest-running album on the Billboard 200 was B's first solo album, "Layover," which spent eight consecutive weeks on the chart.

In addition to the two, RM's "Indigo" spent seven weeks, Jimin's "Face" spent six weeks, Sugar's "D-Day" spent five weeks, and J-Hope's "Jack in the Box" spent three weeks on the chart, giving BTS the top seven longest-running Billboard 200 albums by K-pop solo artists.

TWICE member Nayeon's solo album "I Am Nayeon," released in June 2022, spent five weeks on the Billboard 200, tying for fifth place with Sugar.

Jungkook also showed his influence on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Standing Next to You," the title track of "Golden. It ranks at No. 70, up 27 spots from last week. It marks the album's ninth consecutive week on the chart.

Jungkook also made his presence felt with the reverse run of his solo single "Seven (feat. Rato)," released last July. It re-entered the Global 200 at No. 9 and Global (excluding U.S.) at No. 4.

In addition to Jungkook, solo albums by B and Jimin, as well as songs from BTS's fourth studio album "MAP OF THE SOUL: 7," released in 2020, have also appeared on Billboard's major charts.

On the same day, according to Billboard, BLACKPINK's Jenny's OST "One Of The girls," from the HBO series "The Idol," reached No. 69 on the Hot 100 chart on the 13th.

This is the highest ranking for a K-pop solo artist. The previous highest was No. 70, which was achieved by BLACKPINK member Rose with her solo song "One The Ground" in March 2021.

In addition, BLACKPINK's Lisa's songs "LALISA" and "MONEY" from her 2021 solo single "LALISA" charted at No. 84 and No. 90, respectively.

Amid the hype of BTS and BLACKPINK, the fourth generation of junior K-pop groups also did well on Billboard.

In particular, Newzine's second mini album "Get Up," which was released in July last year, reached No. 110 on the Billboard 200 on the 13th. After entering the chart at No. 1 (on August 5, 2023), "Get Up" stayed on the chart for 24 consecutive weeks, breaking the record for the longest-running album by a fourth-generation K-pop group.

As for K-pop groups as a whole, BLACKPINK's record of 26 consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200 with their first full-length album "THE ALBUM" is the longest, and they are on the verge of breaking it.

"Super Shy," the title track from "Get Up," also rose week-on-week to No. 65 and No. 87 on the Global (excluding U.S.) and Global 200, respectively. In addition, "Ditto" and "OMG" ranked on major charts.

Stray Kids' mini 8th album "Rockstar" (樂-STAR), which set a new record by debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for four consecutive albums, continued its streak of charting for the eighth consecutive week with the album at No. 33 on the 13th.

ATEEZ's second full-length album "THE WORLD EP.FIN: WILL" peaked at No. 97 on the Billboard 200 on the same day, N-Hyphen's mini 5th album "ORANGE BLOOD" came in at No. 134, and Tomorrow By Together's third full-length album "Chapter of Names: FREEFALL" came in at No. 150.
