Blackpink's "Shut Down" music video hits 600 million views

BLACKPINK's music video for "Shut Down," the title track of their second album, has surpassed 600 million views on YouTube.

According to YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK's music video for "Shut Down" on September 21 has surpassed 600 million views on YouTube at 0:55 a.m. KST. It was released on Sept. 16, 2022, about a year and a half after its release, marking the group's 15th 600 million views.

"Shut Down" is a hip-hop song that samples Paganini's "La Campanella. The sharp violin playing of the original song was added to a heavy beat, and the members' solid vocals and dynamic rapping were well received.

The music video, which was YG's highest production budget to date, also attracted fans around the world with its massive set, colorful visuals, and homage to BLACKPINK's hit song. The song became the first K-pop track to top the weekly charts on Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform.

With a total of 45 billion-view videos on YouTube, BLACKPINK remains the reigning YouTube Queen. Their content has been viewed more than 35.2 billion times and their official YouTube channel has 93.2 million subscribers. She is the most popular artist of both sexes in the world.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK successfully completed the largest K-pop girl group's world tour, "BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR [BORN PINK] FINALE IN SEOUL," last year, with 34 cities and 66 dates. As the first Asian artist to headline the Coachella Festival in the U.S. (250,000 people on both days) and Hyde Park in the U.K. (65,000 people), BLACKPINK played to a combined total of 2.15 million music fans, demonstrating their 'world-class' status.
