Four new K-pop categories were added to the 2023 Billboard Music Awards, with four acts taking home awards. However, they did not win the overall category. The '2023 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs) were held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas at 10 a.m. (KST) on the 20th. This year's show was televised and pre-recorded. The Billboard Music Awards are one of the three major popular music awards shows in the United States, along with the American Music Awards and the Grammy Awards. This year's ceremony will honor 69 categories, including four new K-pop categories. They are Top K-Pop Touring Artist, Top Global K-Pop Artist, Top K-Pop Album, and Top Global K-Pop Song. A total of nine K-pop artists are nominated for the awards. Fifty Fifty, NUJINS, and BTS's Jimin were nominated in all non-K-pop categories. Fifty Fifty was nominated for "Top Duo Group," Newzine was nominated for "Top Billboard Global Artist (Excluding U.S.)," and Jimin was nominated for "Top Selling Song. Prior to the main ceremony, BLACKPINK was announced as the winner of the "Top K-Pop Touring Artist" category. Later in the night, NUJINS beat out Jimin, TWICE, Stray Kids, and Tomorrow By Together for the title of Top Global K-Pop Artist. Jungkook won "Top Global K-Pop Song" for "Seven," beating out Fifty Fifty's "Cupid," Jimin's "Like Crazy," and Newzine's "Ditto" and "OMG. Stray Kids was honored for Top K-Pop Album. Jimin's "FACE," NUJINS' "Get Up," Tomorrow By Together's "Name of the Game: TEMPTAION," and TWICE's "READY TO BE" were nominated. However, there were no winners in the overall categories outside of K-pop. The "Top Duo Group" category, for which Fifty Fifty was nominated, went to Puja Regida. Both the Top Selling Song category, for which Jimin was nominated, and Top Billboard Global Artist (excluding the U.S.), for which Newzine was nominated, went to Taylor Swift. Newzine and Stray Kids were also honored as performers at this year's ceremony. Stray Kids is the second K-pop boy group after BTS, and NUJINS is the first K-pop girl group to perform at the Billboard Music Awards.  First, NUJINS performed "Super Shy" and "OMG," followed by STRAY KIDS' powerful performances of "Special" and "Rock," to the cheers of their fans.
